Green Advocacy
The program will engage in robust advocacy efforts, including lobbying, policy research, and strategic partnerships with policymakers, NGOs, and other stakeholders. Through advocacy campaigns, public awareness campaigns, and grassroots organizing, Green Fest will work towards influencing and implementing policy changes that align with its mission of promoting sustainability and protecting the environment.
This program has two main objectives: Industrial Heritage and Sustainable Rivers.
Industrial heritage
Promoting industrial heritage is a key aspect of Green Fest, as it aims to highlight the importance of preserving the cultural and historical heritage for future generations. Industrial heritage refers to the tangible and intangible cultural heritage associated with the industrialization of a particular region. This includes factories, mines, canals, industrial landscapes, worker housing, and other sites, as well as the stories and memories of the people who worked in these industrial landscapes. By promoting industrial heritage during the festival Green Fest aims to raise awareness about the importance of preserving cultural and historical heritage for future generations, and provide an opportunity for festival-goers to learn more about the industrial heritage of the region. It will also encourage the community to learn more about their heritage and to take actions to preserve it, and to use it as a tool for sustainability.
Sustainable Rivers
Our objective is to improve the health and sustainability of rivers in Mitrovica and across Kosovo through effective management, pollution reduction, and community engagement.
We aim to implement integrated river management practices, regulate pollution from land-based sources, engage local communities, conduct monitoring and research, foster stakeholder collaboration, and advocate for supportive policies and governance mechanisms.
Our goals are to conserve and sustainably use rivers, protect water quality and habitat, promote sustainable livelihoods, enhance monitoring and research efforts, collaborate among stakeholders, and advocate for environmentally friendly policies.
Together, we can make a positive impact on the rivers in Mitrovica and across Kosovo, and contribute to the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal 14 – “Life Below Water”.
