Green Fest XIV: Cultural Activities Highlights
The 14th edition of Mitrovica Green Fest showcased a vibrant cultural program, blending film, photography, poetry, and music to highlight environmental themes. The festival featured the screening of the documentary “In the Name of Vjosa” by Matthias Leupold and Eric Berg, emphasizing the importance of river conservation. Throughout the five days, attendees could also visit the Project Drini exhibition by Ferdi Limani. By documenting the entire length of Drini river, Project Drini aims to rise awareness on the water pollution in Kosovo. Throughout the year 2022, documentary photographer Ferdi Limani will travel on foot and canoe to photograph the most important and polluted parts of the 122 kilometer long river in two countries.
A special highlight was the poetry night “Lum Lumi,” organized by the “Za” Creative Writing Group, which selected poems by 16 poets of Mitrovica, along with other national and international poets. The poems were beautifully interpreted by Esra Zhilivoda, Rita Daklani, Fisnik Istrefi, Diellza Zhubi, and Nora Prekazi, creating an evening of profound artistic expression.
The festival’s cultural celebration continued each evening at 8:00 PM with music concerts, featuring performances by renowned artists such as Alban Skenderaj, Vlashent Sata, Linda Rukaj, Shpat Deda, Oda Haliti and others, adding a melodic touch to the festival’s environmental message.
