Green Fest XIV with the theme “Lum Na”
Green Fest is pleased to announce its 14th edition with the theme “Lum Na,” an initiative aimed at raising public awareness about water and river pollution in Kosovo. The festival will take place from August 14 to August 18, 2024, at the City Park of Mitrovica, offering a range of educational, cultural, and interactive activities for all age groups. Each year, Green Fest addresses themes in sync with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and this year it focuses on SDG 14 (Life Below Water).
Through the reflective question, “Can we say ‘Lum Na’?” this edition of the festival aims to highlight the alarming state of Kosovo’s rivers, which have been heavily polluted by industrial and agricultural waste, the lack of adequate wastewater treatment infrastructure, and overall human impact. Besides pollution, climate change is expected to cause droughts and an increase in flooding in the coming years.
By offering a rich five-day program with educational and recreational activities, the festival aims to raise awareness about the importance of preserving rivers and to encourage concrete actions for environmental protection across Kosovo.
Green Fest invites all citizens, organizations, and institutions to join this initiative to protect our rivers. Let’s come together to make a difference and proudly say: “Lum Na.”
This year, 7Arte, the festival’s organizing body, has been supported through the project “Empowering Environmental Civil Society Organizations in Kosovo” (EECSOK), implemented by the Community Development Fund (CDF) and funded by the Embassy of Sweden in Pristina.
