Green Fest opens its 13th editon
The well-known environmental awareness festival, Green Fest, opened its 13th edition yesterday with an exhibition and screening of the documentary film “Wild Kosovo” by Arian Mavriqi in the city park. Through the inspiring theme “Imagine,” the festival aims to encourage environmental consciousness and promote a sustainable world.
During the festival’s opening ceremony, citizens had the opportunity to see photographs of wild animals taken in the nature of Kosovo and beyond. Following the exhibition, the documentary “Wild Kosovo” by director Arian Mavriqi was screened, shedding light on the country’s natural wealth and the challenges it faces in preserving its wildlife. In the opening speech delivered by Lulzim Hoti, it was mentioned that in the early beginnings of the festival, it was challenging to find collaborators who shared common values on environmental issues, but in this edition, there is already an increased number of institutions, partner organizations, and sponsors working together to build a hopeful synergy for a greener future. Additionally, on behalf of the Municipality of Mitrovica, a welcoming speech was given by director Gëzim Stavileci, who confirmed that the Municipality continues to support such environmental initiatives like Green Fest.
“We believe in the power of art to inspire, to change mindsets, and to create better cooperation among us. In the Municipality of Mitrovica, culture and art are our most valuable heritage, a treasure that we support and preserve for future generations,” emphasized Stavileci.
Meanwhile, under the name of Raiffeisen Bank, greetings were delivered by Ms. Antigona Limani, who emphasized that their bank continues to support such initiatives that promote the Green Agenda, and they are pleased to have been sponsors of the Green Fest for several years in a row.
The festival will continue for three more days with various activities such as Green Kids, film screenings, publications, “Bike Day,” mountain climbing towards the heights of Bajgora’s Valley, a poetic night, environmental actions, as well as festive concerts.
